I’m very excited to see this get a repress from the ever dependable Mr Bongo label. Never been released outside of Japan before now, this is the singer’s debut album dating back to 1974. Includes timeless versions of ‘People Make The Would Go Round’ and ‘Love From The Sun’ to name a few. Order the vinyl or CD direct from Mr Bongo here
Today is a good day to shop bandcamp and to know that you are supporting a good cause at the same time. Here are my 10 picks to dive into.
Tell Me I’m Dreaming are pleased to premiere the first single from Between Walls from a cracking new EP ‘Means To An End’ on the excellent Futurepast Zine Label. A great jazzy breaks tune that you’re going to love. The release is out today and available digitally or on vinyl from their bandcamp site here
One of the best groups to come out of the recent UK Jazz resurgence has without a doubt been Waaju. Their debut eponymous album was a strong highlight of 2018 and helped to put the label Olindo Records on the map. The band are now all set to release their second album ‘Grown’ this coming Friday also via Olindo. You might recognise the title track from the last show I did. The new album feels like a natural progression from the last. There seems to a wider scope this time round and I think the result is a set even better than their first. You can pre-order the album at the link above and get four tracks upfront, with the full release coming 15th June.
We’re pleased to share this first track ‘Morning’ from the excellent new EP from 67100 for the always on point Dope Tones label. The ‘Through The Window’ EP will include three new tracks each representing three different moments and three different feelings according to the course of a sunny day. Musically the set hits somewhere between a broken beat and a jazz vibe. As well as the three original tracks, there will also be a great remix of lead track ‘Morning’ by Steven Wobblejay. The EP can be pre-ordererd from bandcamp at the link below.
As bandcamp are waiving their fees once more for 24 hours, it’s a good day to have a bandcamp slurge. Here are my top ten picks for where to spend your money…
Another one I forgot to hit record from the start, but only missed a couple of mins on this one, half the lovely Butterfly track though, oh well! Hopefully you can still get into it! Starting off with a few recent jazz purchases, almost like a rollover from my recent jazz meet set, and then hitting a banging old school house vibe early doors and calming it down a touch for the remainder. So in other words, all over the shop.
