Another one I forgot to hit record from the start, but only missed a couple of mins on this one, half the lovely Butterfly track though, oh well! Hopefully you can still get into it! Starting off with a few recent jazz purchases, almost like a rollover from my recent jazz meet set, and then hitting a banging old school house vibe early doors and calming it down a touch for the remainder. So in other words, all over the shop.

It’s always an exciting music moment when Kenny Dixon Jr announces he has a new album out. He’s been knocking out of the park for years ever since ‘Silent Introduction’ hit back in 1997. I think this new one is one of his best for a long time, perhaps since the golden run he had on Peacefrog records in the early 2000s. Looking at the credits it looks like there are some great collaborations this time around too, including Andres, Diviniti and most surprisingly former Bug in the Attic, Seiji. Have a listen, and if you’ve never heard any of those early albums, they’re all now available on his bandcamp, so no excuse to dive in.
One I almost forgot to post. Missed the first 15 mins or so, but caught the majority. Old faves alongside new gear…

This only dropped yesterday, but 3 listens in I can tell this is going to be a favourite of 2020. The press release notes state that it’s one for fans of 3 Chairs and Kaidi Tatham and I have to agree that’s a good comparison. Alton has obviously been influenced by the soulful broken sound of the likes of Kaidi but he adds a Detroit house twist all of his own. Purchase at the link above.
